What is HEIC?
A high-efficiency image format used by Apple. Smaller than JPG but often unsupported on Windows. Converting to JPG is convenient for sharing.
Are files really not uploaded?
Correct. Open DevTools → Network tab. The decoder (heic2any) runs in your browser too — no upload occurs.
Why does conversion take time on the first run?
The HEIC decoder (libheif) loads on first use. Subsequent runs are cached and faster.
Can I open iPhone photos on Windows after this?
Yes. After converting to JPG you can open them in any default Windows app.
Can I batch convert?
Yes — up to 10 HEIC files at once.
Will quality drop?
Tunable via the slider. The default 90% quality is visually indistinguishable in most cases.
HEIF vs HEIC?
HEIF is the standard; HEIC is the Apple file extension. Same underlying format — both work here.
